RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Teammates will line up to race at the same time. Bikers will start first and will be lined up together. Runners will be lined up behind them. (hint: make sure the runner wears the chip for the best time)
2. One bike per team. You can use any kind of (non motorized) bike you like, however due to the race changing from dirt, to gravel, to grass, to pavement, we recommend you use the bike that would best perform in these situations. Racers are responsible for bringing their own bike. It is smart to be creative and mark your bike so that you can easily find it. Flags, stuffed animals, balloons, painted tires…
3. While racing, please run on the right side. Bikers will pass on the left. Please call out when passing (ie Passing on your left!)
4. Once you get to the obstacle, you will be required to finish the obstacle and then switch from biking to running or vise versa. The biker will drop the bike in the Twitch (trade and switch area- transition area) and finish the obstacle. The runner will finish the obstacle, then find the bike and complete the next leg.
5. Do not wait for your partner after each obstacle. (unless the biker isn’t there yet then you will have to wait for the bike to do the next leg). Only must wait for your partner before entering the Gauntlet so that you can cross the finish line together. (It makes for better pics for your facebook)
6. Participants must wear a bike helmet during the entire race. The helmet must remain buckled even during the running and obstacle portion.
7. HANSINGER will supply number plates for your bike.
8. Use caution when approaching the mud pit at the end of the Guantlet. Do not jump, or run, dive etc. into the pit. Participants will need to crawl through this obstacle in order to complete the race.
9. All racers must have a water bottle on the bike or a hydration system. (you can’t drink out of the mud pit gross.)
10. There will be an area to rinse off after the race – so you may want to bring a towel, and extra clothes to change into.
11. Must be 14 years old to participate.
12. Both Team mates (or parents, if under 18) will need to sign another waiver on- site or at packet pick-up. Each person MUST sign (you cannot sign for your partner). So, be sure and get to the event early to avoid long lines at the waiver sign-in area.
13. Race entries are NON-REFUNDABLE. If it is 7 days or more before the event, and you need to change your buddy for the race, please fill out our Mudfester Change form. Check with your partner you will need all their info to complete this form.
14. This race will go on no matter what the weather. It may be delayed if lightening is present. Race fees will not be refunded in the case that some freak thing happens with the weather and we cannot complete the race.
